Just in Case You Missed Anything Vol. 19

Lots of new tour dates have been trickling in for Ryan Adams and the Shining. For the first time in a while, Ryan will be hitting the festival circuit this spring and summer; and joining bills with big name acts like The Who, Elton John, The Strokes, Black Keys, and many others! (see links below for ticket info). Plus there's plenty of headline shows throughout the US and Europe.
4/25 - New Orleans Jazz Fest www.nojazzfest.com
5/8-9 - Big Guava Festival, Tampa, FL - www.bigguavafest.com
5/8-10 - Shaky Knees Music Festival, Atlanta, GA - shakykneesfestival.com
6/5-7 - Governors Ball, New York, NY - governorsballmusicfestival.com

There are some very exciting news and rumors floating around regarding future releases from Ryan Adams. On Record Store Day (April 18th), it's been revealed that a new 7" is being released featuring an alternate take of "Come Pick Me Up" and a b-side called "Rope Gets Tight". If that second song sounds familiar, it's also been known on live bootlegs from 2000 as "When the Rope Gets Tight"  and was later re-recorded on Jacksonville City Nights as "Don't Fail Me Now".

This 7" is rumored to be a pre-cursor for the re-release/deluxe anniversary edition of Heartbreaker to be released sometime later this year. There have been some rumblings of Ethan Johns going through some of the old outtakes from both Heartbreaker and Gold, as well as remastering them. Dave McClister, who took all the photos for the Heartbreaker cover shoot also made a mention of a re-release on his instagram page (found HERE), and posted several new photos from the session.

Ryan has also been very busy laying down new songs in the studio. According to his instagram account, he has been working on a new solo album, a new album with The Shining, a hardcore punk follow-up ep to 1984, and a new folk covers album of songs from Taylor Swift's smash-hit 1989. Some other brief news updates:

- The "No Shadow" single featuring Johnny Depp is now available for download on iTunes. (It's a good one!)

- On January 5th, Ryan Adams performed 3 songs at Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden's wedding. Lionel Richie also performed.

- Photographer and film-maker Danny Clinch recently released a new photo book titled Still Moving. It features several photos of Ryan Adams during his days with the Cardinals. You can watch a short trailer about the project and order it at: http://www.dannyclinch.com/

- There's a new book out by Bruno Macdonald called The Greatest Albums You'll Never Hear: Unreleased Records by the World's Greatest Artists. I was mostly drawn to it because it has the back stories of all the classic unreleased Neil Young albums. But I was surprised to see a pretty hefty section on Ryan Adams' shelved recording....... Plus it lists this blog as a reference in the back of the book (which I thought was pretty rad!). It's available at: http://www.brunomacdonald.com/ or  through Amazon.

- On a recent WXRT radio show/podcast called Sound Opinions, there's a great episode about the history of Bloodshot Records (the label that put out Heartbreaker). During the show, the founders of the label talk about how they met Ryan and how he joined their label. You can download the episode for free at: http://www.soundopinions.org/show/473 . ...... (If you're unfamiliar with this show, I highly recommend it! Although you'll probably never find Ryan Adams as a guest performer after he left this message for one of the co-hosts.)

- Starpoint Brewery in Carrboro, NC plans to release a 2nd batch of Whiskeytown Imperial Milk Stout in late February or March. The first batch of booze was sold in December and limited to only 120 bottles. Follow them on facebook for updates at: www.facebook.com/StarpointBrewing

Some new video clips:

The Late Late Show hosted by Judd Apatow on 1/23/15. Ryan performs a slowed down and pretty intense rendition of "Gimme Something Good" with Don Was on stand-up bass.

On December 27th, Ryan performed on the CBS Morning Show, playing another solo rendition of "Gimme Something Good". He was also interviewed briefly.

On December 18th, Jenny Lewis performed a couple songs on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, backing Jenny Lewis on guitar.
