New Zealand/Australia/Japan Tour Wrap-Up (7/14-26/15)

Ryan Adams and the Shining closed out their massive tour in support of their 2014 album with 7 shows down under and another one in Japan. Judging from some of his online twitter posts, Ryan seemed happy to finally get an extended break from playing for a while. But there definitely was no slouching for the last hurdle of shows. Although not quite as many surprises in the setlists, the band still played amazingly well! In 8 shows, 46 different songs were played.

Midway through this leg, Ryan did a solo performance at the Sydney Opera House where he dusted off rarely played favorites like "September", "My Blue Manhattan", and "I Do Not Feel Like Being Good". But most unexpected of all was an excellent folky cover of "Time Like These" by the Foo Fighters.

The tour ended on a high note with 2 massive festival shows (Splendor in the Grass, and the Fuji Rock Festival). The latter of which, Ryan met one of his idols - Johnny Marr of the Smiths.
